• The 4K is more for the picture than the sound. You won't have to replace your receiver because you purchased this disk player.

• Yes you will need a receiver that supports 4k if you have your player going through your receiver like I do. You will also need a tv that also supports 4k and HDMI cables are needed as well if you truly want a 4k picture. The DVD player of course plays regular blue ray movies as well.
