Remember this is a router, not a modem. Xfinity rents modems, routers, and also has a device that is both a modem and router. You need both a modem /and/ a router. In brief, here's how you get internet service. Internet <=> modem <=> router <=> your computers So this will replace a rented Xfinity /router/ but not a modem or their combined modem-router device.
