• You wouldn't be able to type and view portrait mode. But you can fold the keyboard behind the iPad and hold it in portrait mode

• If you wan to type, it will be in Landscaape. Otherwise, I just turn it up and use the case as half a "V" configuration, with the tablet on the other side. Works for me.

• The iPad works the same with the case attached or detached. You tilt the iPad to portrait with the case attached and the iPad goes into portrait. I read magazines in portrait mode and I do nothing but tilt the case and iPad to do this.

• Only landscape when you want to use the keyboard. If not, you can fold a certain way and hold the iPad in portrait mode.
