• You can just use it when the USB drive is connected. There is a software if you want to modify the settings of the mouse though.

• You don't need to have the Logitech Gaming Software, it just allows you to configure the buttons and colors.

• It's plug an play but you will be limited to the default DPI settings. For better use in gaming, download the software and set your preferred DPI,
