“According to the instructions the monitor use an ac adapter that charges a battery as well. I would like to know exactly what battery I need for the monitor because there's a spot for it.”

This system does not support battery use and you will need to use the included adapter.

I believe they previously had problems with the battery and they removed them. You can "not" order any extra cameras or accessories for this product discontinued by lorex for quite some time now. Get a sandisk 32 to 64gig SDHC only 10 grade it will run better.
