• They are not. Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Luigi, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Rosalina, and the mysterious new rabbid Edge are the nine playable characters. Rayman is to be added in DLC. Toad and Toadette are encountered in the story, trapped by puddles of darkmess that must be defeated to free them. However, there are no escort missions like from the first game.

• Not in the main game, but maybe a VERY slight chance in a future dlc (I wouldn’t count on it, sorry).
