Why do I need to watch the progress of clothes drying? The default for these machines should be, “Drum Light Off”! In the age of being “green” I find this feature useless!

I found that you must turn on the Maytag dryer before opening the dryer door and placing clothes inside and then the drum light will go out and stay off regardless of the cycle selected.
