Both Surface Go and Surface Pro 6 are excellent devices for students. As far as speed goes, the Surface Pro 6 has faster processor options than the Surface Go, as well as options for larger RAM and SSD storage capacities. Ultimately speed will depend on what programs/software/applications you intend on running. It's important to compare the system requirements of any programs you wish to download to the specs of the device you wish to purchase. Overall, either device is a great choice for school!

This is largely because of faster processor and memory/storage and if you are doing a ton of school work in Office (esp. any large spreadsheets) along with browsing and other actions, then the extra horsepower is going to work out better....also you get 2" more of screen which is nice. The Surface Go is a fully capable tablet/PC hybrid (even the 4GB/64GB) but you probably will hit a wall with the amount of programs you can run concurrently and you'll likely have to purchase an SD card for extra space. Thus, if you can spend the extra $$, go with the Surface Pro 6.
