“How would I connect this laptop to HDTV as external monitor?”

Using the USB-c port cable on the computer end and HDMI on the other takes care of it. In addition, I bought an IIIP adaptor from Monoprice that takes input from USB-c, but allows hook up from there into any device with USB 2.0, USB-c, HDMI and even the old 15 pin adaptors. It gave me more versatility with less cables to carry
