Yes. The Xbox chat pad can type to your friends and the rest of your Xbox people on your list. That is the whole purpose as I own one myself.

Yes, but you can use a regular keybord to do this now since the nov/dec update. Head phone jack only works for chat programs. Cannot use this peripheral to use headphones the way headphones are designed to be used no no sound exept for chat related programs.
