Do not use xfinity as cable service so not sure that it will work ... do not see why it shouldn't.
You need to make sure to call comcast to "register" your modem/router with them when you plug it in so that comcast can "see" it on their lines.
Motorola gives you simple instructions on how to add the wifi router to your system and they have phone support to walk you through it if you need it.

Mesh will work by itself it will need a cat5 cable, which is usually supplied.
