I thought a modem was a modem. My old modem had given up the ghost, had purchased it at a yardsale for 5 bucks. served me well over the years. But when I went to replace it, of course I went to BB to check them out. I didn't realize that modems themselves have different speeds. So with the old one I wasn't even getting the speed that I'd been paying for with my ISP. Did some research and ended up getting this one. Modems aren't cheap and i was looking for a bargain. For my purposes this was the best one. It works great, can't complain about it at all.

My internet plan with Comcast is for 200 mbps download speeds. With my old Motorola SBG6680 I was able to get 50-60 on the xfinity speed test and that was adequate for my needs, no issues, no dropouts, no buffering. But, I was paying for 200 and getting 50-60. Dropping down to a 100 plan would actually have cost a little more. So I spoke to a helpful Best Buy associate who recommended the Motorola MG7550 and went home to do my own research. After a day of of waffling I decided that the MG7550 was actually the best choice even though it was a little more than what I needed right now. I opened the box and the directions weren’t clear as a bell for keeping my old network name and password so I called the 800 number and Eddie walked me right through it. Called Comcast to update the new Mac ID and that went smoothly. Now the big test. What download speed would I get? I’d have been happy to hit 100. Last evening I was consistently getting 150-170. This morning with all of the kids off to school and parents off to work I’m getting 200+. So, yeah! I’m happy with the MG7550.
