• Yes. I have used with both USB and USB-C (using an adapter), and it DOES work, absolutely - assuming the USB-C port on YOUR car supports the android auto function. You may want to contact the car manufacturer first to verify.

• A USB-A to USB-C adapter should work fine, but the cleanest solution is to buy the shortest USB-A to USB-C cable you can find. Preferably under a foot long.
