• I switched my secondary drive out the same day. Not the M.2 drive, but the TB physical drive. Unplug the old, plug-in the new.

• Absolutely! Just be sure that the 2.5" SSD you use is 9.5mm or less in height so that it will actually fit inside of the unit. For what it's worth, most SSDs, if not all, are under this height, but I'd rather mention it to be safe!
