It is not mechanical. It is a very good laptop keyboard, though. It's great for typing, and it'll do for gaming. If you're buying it to play games extensively, and you have a setup that will support it, it probably would be worth picking up a dedicated mechanical keyboard.

I purchased for my daughter an architect studen for the significant graphics and processing speed and storage. She loved it. All the architect student get this one because of the multiple software needed to run concurrently.
