No, these work with the homekit app regardless of your other accessories, just note that without a HomePod mini it requires a Bluetooth connection to connect to the bulb (meaning you can’t turn it on and off from far distances). If you have a HomePod mini in range of the lightbulb then it will make a thread network and you can use the bulbs from the homekit app from anywhere. The lights also work with the nanoleaf app (which you will need to update the bulbs)

However it has Bluetooth as well so assuming you already have home setup and a hub it can run off of phones Bluetooth if a hub with Bluetooth is not nearby.
