They both have their uses. I have both, I use both. You can use Alexa to get to Cortana, and use Cortana to get to Alexa. You can use Alexa and Fire TV to quickly view Arlo Cameras. Both integrate well with Wink Hub 2 based smart home devices, and can do so at the same time. It would be nice to get all the smart speakers and displays to play the same music together synched regardless of if they are Google or Amazon based, but that's probably never going to happen. If I had to pick one, I'd pick Alexa because of how many skills they have for it. But I don't have to, because they coexist quite well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Google hub seems to me a better unit , gives more answers to my weather locations. When I ask Alexa for the weather in Vilnius, Lithuania. Alexa's reply is I can not find that location. It is the capital of Lithuania, one of the three Baltic countries. When I ask Google Hub , it gives me the weather for that location. It seems that Alexa is not able to give me a answer because it must be using Bing for it's search engine. I also like the feature of changing the voice on Google Hub to a Male voice instead of a Female voice like Alexa. Google home hub did not work the first time until I gave my permission to use all functions. I tried to limit or restrict all of it's functions. I only use it for weather reports for that limited weather location that Alexa can not find I would go for the Google home hub if I had a choice plus it does show video on it's 7 inches screen I wish it had a video output to connect to a big screen TV like my Note 8.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have an Amazon Echo Dot (1st gen) that I use downstairs mostly to control my home entertainment system and listen to music. Now I have a Google Home Hub upstairs near the kitchen that we use for viewing our many photos, listening to podcasts, watching the occasional YouTube video, etc. I think it depends on what you’re looking for and what you’ll use these devices for, but generally speaking I think the voice recognition is better on the Google Home Hub than the Dot. I asked it to search for a person whose name I’m sure I did not pronounce correctly and it nailed it. I had a bad cold and all but my lost my voice and still the Google Home didn’t miss a beat in understanding me. I also like the simplicity of the “cast” function with Google. So many apps on your phones or tablets have the little cast icon and a simple tap of that will send it to the Google Home. For me it’s a bit easier than pairing to the Echo via Bluetooth - or adding skills in the Alexa app - , but it’s not like that’s very hard either. If you’re really looking for the complete smart home experience, my understanding is that the number of things Alexa will work with is still much greater than that of Google’s Assistant. Maybe that will change over time, but it would be worth looking into to make sure your smart devices are compatible with Google before switching.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would have to say google especially if you have an Android phone, you can download the alexa app on any android phone, tablet or chromebook I made the switch from using both to just google. I use the alexa app on my phone for video chats with people I know who just have the alexa.
