• The Google Nest Mini can be used separately. It's not necessary to have a Google Nest Hub. But if you have both devices you can include them in a group and have them play the music that you want to listen to at the same time if you are moving from one part of your home to another. • No, not necessary to have a Google Nest Hub to use your Google Nest Mini Smart Speaker. In fact, I had 3 smart speakers before I purchased a Nest Hub. Nest Hub is useful to control each of your smart speakers. For example, if you want different volume levels for each smart speaker, you can control that on the Nest Hub. But it’s not necessary because you can also achieve that by using the Google Home app or by voice.
