I say yes.. Both the sound and Google assistant are so much better, those two make the upgrade worth it alone.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a Google home mini (1st Gen) in my living room and I bought the Google home nest to put in a bedroom. Turns out I like the nest way better so I am going to buy another nest to replace the home mini in the living room.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, if you want better sound quality. If you use this to play music it is worth it. Also, this version has an extra microphone to help hear commands.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the previous one and this is worth the upgrade I’d you stream music to other speakers. Nice and clear not choppy like the first generation.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.one good idea is to buy the new NEST Mini for the sound quality, and then buy a USB Battery base for your old HOME Mini. (Dozens can be found online). then you have a fully portable speaker for outside on the deck, with 12-18 hours of play time. Only old HOME Mini can have USB power, while NEST mini is stuck needing 120VAC power.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, I wouldn't think so. I bought a newer generation mini and put the older one in my bedroom. I can't tell the difference.
