• A:Answer You don't have to choose. You can setup both. 5GHz is faster; but has shorter range. You can connect to either network based on location and need for speed. I usually connect to the 5G if I'm near the router; but use the 2.4GHz when I'm farther away.

• A:Answer Netgear is compatible with most internet providers, but to be safe I would call Century Link. Also this is just a router, you indicated you were wanting to replace a modem / router combo, so would would also need to purchase or rent a Modem. Hope this helps.

• A:Answer I do not use century link. Prior to purchasing, the Best Buy staff was instrumentally helpful in pointing me to the correct router to purchase for my internet carrier. Although I'm not sure if it matters which carrier you have? I believe it might be compatible with any service? Best to chat with a customer service for their expertise.
