i think it's compatible, but mine was so slow it eventually became unusable. i'd get the much bigger netgear nighthawk ac1900... it's quick, but quite a bit larger. if your chromebook does not have wifi access, no matter what you choose should come with install software so that you can install it properly. if you want a small form factor, try another manufacturer other than netgear.

I do not own a Chromebook, but I think it may possibly work for you.
