Their is no setup fee for phone notifications.

As soon as the motion detected, I receive e-mail and notification on my I-Phone. It is free of charge.

There are different modes, you enable motion, and Arlo sends you a text and email when it detects motion! Works well! You can also watch live from anywhere then there is wifi! No fee for this basic service! I believe you can upgrade to a different more involved service, where they monitor.

No you can have up to 5 cameras free before there is a fee and it alerts your phone whenever there is motion detected. You have to set up if you want it to record and for how long up to 2 minutes and if you want to be alerted by notification or email. There is a free app to customize the info and also download or manage your recordings.
