An extender could help, but might slow down browsing speeds. If you're needing the most speed for a gaming computer/system, hardwire for the fastest speeds. For just normal Wifi, observe the location of the router, make sure that it doesn't have anything blocking the signal (walls, furniture, etc) and in a location in the middle of your apartment so it can reach both sides. Check into that before thinking about an extender.
