This modem & router works with cable internet, If you have fiber connections that come in and have a ethernet port in your house, you might need to look at a different item. Also, I would NOT suggest this for fiber internet. This unit has maxed speeds that are short of fiber connection. I was told in store that this would max out capacity at 300 mb/s. Fiber is usually 1 Gb/s, so you would be missing out a lot of speeds. You'll need to look for something with greater buff and higher price to match your fiber connection.
