LanielLoo, I don't understand why they are telling you that you need a dual band router when you are hardwired into the router. The dual band is for Wi-Fi access and is either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Most single band routers are 2.4GHz so if your VPN phone works on Wi-Fi and only works on 5GHz and couldn't be hardwired, that would be the only reason you would NEED a dual band router. I am not sure why he says there is an incompatibility issue with their modem/router when most/all new modems work on DOCSIS 3.0 modem for the their feed into your house to the modem and then once you are hardwired in, it is all TCP/IP from the router. It sounds more like a configuration issue because all hardwired connections into routers are going to work the same way regardless of router as long as the port is configured the same way. I know this isn't a solution, but hopefully gives you some more information to work with them on making this work. It sounds like the install guy doesn't know how to properly configure the port for your VPN phone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased this NetGear so that I could get a work Polycom VOIP phone to work in a home environment. It resolved the issue. It's the second client that the Netgear cable modem fixes VOIP issues. The good thing about BestBuy is you can try and if it does not work return it.
