• No it’s not over kill, It would actually give you more effective mbps with all your equipment running simultaneously. I do the same and it’s much faster.

• It would be worth your money. System works great. It is also less bulkier than having a separate modem and router. Also, you may be able to catch it on sale and it may cost you less than buying separate modem and router systems.
