Yes, you need a modem and a router , check with your internet provider which modems are approved to work with them, if you already have a internet provider you might already have a modem only need a router to get wifi.

I have a wired network. I have connected my pc directly to the modem and accessed the internet. I now have the modem connected to a router, so the pc, and my televisions can all access the internet. All wired, of course.
