This unit doesn't do phone, but I traded in my time Warner router and this one needs no extender. My c3000 didn't reach my living room and this makes it seem like it's hard wired now on my Samsung 4k. Very happy with the c7000!

It works well even when I am way outside of the house. However, you might need an extender if your walls are center block or your home is very, very, large.
