No - it does not require an ethernet connection to configure. You can simply plug it in and connect to the wireless network it provides to configure it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You'll need something (pc, tablet, smartphone) on wifi with a browser to connect to the router for setup. However, if you can't get wifi to work, you'll need to be able to plug an ethernet cable into a pc or mac.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is recommended, I would say just pick up a USB network adapter about $30-50 that is MAC rated and you are good to go. And will allow you to be able to hardwire connect in future if ever needed and is easy to keep in your case.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.In regards to setting up without an Ethernet port, it is not required. My MacBook Pro has neither an Ethernet port nor a CD Drive. I followed the directions right out of the box, which has you set up via the Wi-Fi connection produced by the device once powered on, and abracadabra, it was completely setup.
