I have the orbi 74 with one booster and I live in a old 2800 sq ft house with dense walls on almost 3/4 of an acre of land -the system works well in the house with multiple devices and most of the yard .

Please try again later.I dont understand the first part of your question- a step down- but as to the second part the Orbi remote booster just has to be placed about half way to 2/3 the way over to your cameras and you will have a much better cover for the cameras. You can I believe purchase additional boosters if the one is not enough extension.

I had to buy this product because we installed a Simply Safe product and it was not strong enough to keep the cameras in the garage working but with the new router it works perfectly even if I am out of state...Love the Geek Squad!!
