You would still use the DSL modem but from there you would plug it into the Orbi and then the Orbi would give you a strong wifi signal over all your house. You can also plug from the Orbi directly into your iMac still as the Orbi has 3 network plugs on the back of it, in addition to its wifi capabilities.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The modem will connect to the Orbi router via ethernet cable and then the router will provide the Wi-Fi signal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You go from your router via Ethernet to the orbi base. From there you can use WiFi to your iMac or plug into the orbi via Ethernet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Within the router settings you should have the option of disabling the wi-fi signal, then you can use the modem itself to connect to the orbi wi-fi router. You'll be happy you spent the extra money!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Orbi is strictly a router and has no modem capability, so you will still need a modem. It connects directly to your home's modem via Ethernet cable. It does have the ability to run alongside your current router system in Access Point mode, however, should you choose to maintain your current equipment. You also have the option of keeping your current modem/router combo device and simply turning off the WiFi signal from that device and run Orbi's signal as your sole network source. Instructions for setting up the Orbi in AP mode are located beginning on page 72 of the User Manual: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RBK50#docs.
