• Yes. I have the one connected to the modem directly. The second connects to a wireless router to broadcast strong wifi signal.

• You'll need to connect the second to the ISP port of a wireless router to create a new Wifi network. It is not a range extender. Instead, it'll bridge a connection. Think of it as a really long cable without having to run wire.
