- Answer You need at least a pair. You plug one in, and an ethernet cable from it to your router. You plug the other one in elsewhere in the house, then you can connect an ethernet cable from that to a desktop/laptop and you should get internet connectivity.

- Answer Just one. The instructions included with the pair in the box explain. There is a procedure to add an adapter to an existing secure power line subnet. It is quite simple. Secure means someone can't sneak on your network by plugging a power line adapter into say an outside power receptacle.

- Answer This adapter basically acts as an extension of your modem/router. It transmits the same signal as your modem/router. So, if you're struggling while directly connected to your modem/router, this adapter won't fix your issues since there is no real speed increase. I would recommend looking into a better internet plan.

QuestionI understand the adapter cannot plug into a surge protector. Can it plug into a 3 outlet adapter that plugs directly into the outlet? If not, can I have an electrician install a four plug hardwired outlet in the same space the two outlet one was?

- Answer I have used these before with a multiplug adaptor. As long as it does not have a surge protetor built in, I think it will work.

- Answer It may, you have to test it. My home was built in the 1930s and it works fine. One of the adapters is in a newer part of the house, the other is in the original part, so they are on different breakers. I am not sure if they are on the same phase. . I am getting 50Mbps speeds. When I tested both adapters in the same room (i.e. on the same breaker), I got 90 Mbps.

- Answer Voice of Experience: I too use a legacy system, which I had connected via ethernet cable to a Linksys gaming adapter. This made a wireless connection to the router, and worked well for several years, but has been failing by inches for some time, and recently failed completely. Connecting computer and router via ethernet cables to these power-line adapters solved my networking problem better than completely, as the system now not only connects to the router but runs faster than before. So I would guess that the cable connection you describe would work. There is, of course, the scientific way to answer your question--try it and find out!

- Answer You can connect one to your router and the other needs to be on the same circuit breaker If your garage is on the same breaker then you can plug your acesspoint or any device into this lan port

- Answer I think the difference is that the PLP-1200 has a passthrough outlet, so you can plug in other devices. These units are large and may make it difficult to use the second outlet.

- Answer As far as I know - as long as your sharing the same wiring the distance makes no difference. This product makes the internet signal available via the house wiring not a wireless signal.
