This switch is compatible with MAC, Linux, Unix, Windows. iPad can only work with Wireless connection to a network, however once iPad/iPhone is in the wired network this switch will route MAC product traffic.

Yes. PCs and Macs run the same protocol for ethernet connectivity, however, a switch is a wired connection. You'll have to use ethernet cords with a switch. If you want a wireless connection, get a wireless router.

Yes it is compatible with the Imac. The switch turns internet from 1 Ethernet cord into 4 other ports allowing you to multiple devices to the internet at once. The devices must have an Ethernet port. The Ipad will not work with the Ethernet switch because it does not have an Ethernet port. To connect the Ipad you need a wireless router, which cost more and would also work with the Imac if it have a wireless card.
