“Does this device also increase the internet speed? We have a Netgear router hooked into our PC, but have slow internet service through our provider. We now have a Smart TV upstairs away from the router, and wonder if we will need this device to increase signal and also help with speed? We also use IPads, phones and laptops. And would I place the extender upstairs near the TV?”

Your speed is determined by your plan through your ISP provider. It will not increase speed therefore, but will increase the signal from your main router anywhere in your home. You can simply plug it in anywhere and if you have more rooms than we had, buy a second or a third. For the price, it's unmatched and works like a champ 100% reliable. Hope this helped as well. The only thing it can help is increase the speed if you were too far from the wireless router and having dropped connections. But whatever your internet speed is, nothing will make that faster except for your internet provider. A wireless router in almost all cases runs speeds faster than a home internet connection.

However if, for example, you're supposed to be getting 20 Mbps, but your devices are a good distance from your wireless router and you are only able to get about 5 Mbps, then using this extender can probably get you about 15 Mbps, but never more than 20 Mbps. It will also help to run an Ethernet cable from the extender to whatever device you're using if you want the highest speed possible from the extender.

Please try again later.Hello, I think you should find out what speed are you running now, I know some (TW in NYC offer a $14.99 monthly deal, this sucks my friend had to upgrade to a higher bandwidth. I do recommend a range Extender to make sure the TV gets a good signal specially if you are going to be streaming movies, and video.
