“Will this device work in a separate building? I have several Ring cameras set up on my standalone garage which is 15 feet from the house. I would like to improve the Wi Fi signal to the cameras. Ethernet is not an option.”

I have a 1900 square foot home and my wireless router was in the basement making it impossible to get wifi in my 3rd floor office . I know it has a range limit but not sure what that is. I know with plugging it in on our 2nd floor we don't have any issues getting wifi in any room plus we are able to get faster uploads in our attached garage. We also was having trouble getting connected with our ring door bell before purchasing it but no issue since installing the extender.
