• An Ethernet cable is what we used before Wifi. It provides wired network access. You can purchase a USB to Ethernet for laptops but I hardly see the point as all laptops should have Wifi. And if they don't you can get USB wifi adapters.

• No Ethernet cables can only be plugged into the Ethernet port on your laptop, the Ethernet port on the wifi extender is to connect to the router so it can pick up the settings faster.
