“New to wifi xfinity tv, phone and iPad but would like to connect older computer, would this cable make that possible? Would also need something to replace current windows 7 with something other than windows, suggestions? Thanks.”

Hi Lady. This is a standard Cat-5e Ethernet cable for networking. We, Night Owl, can only guarantee its use with compatible Wired NVR systems, where the cameras are wired to the NVR using Ethernet cable. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!
