Nikon's site states "AF compatible with optional TC-14E series teleconverters and DSLRs that offer f/8 support"
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on what functionality you want. I'd suggest going to Nikon's site to check based the teleconverter model and body for levels of compatibility. http://cdn-5.nikon-cdn.com/Assets/Common-Assets/Images/Teleconverter-Compatibility/EN_Comp_chart.html
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR is able to be used with teleconverters, but with limitations. This lens will only autofocus when used with the Nikon TC-14E II or TC-14E III on cameras that offer f/8 support. Autofocus is not available with TC-14E II or TC-14E III on cameras that do not offer f/8 support. Autofocus is not supported with this lens and the TC-17EII, TC20-EII, or TC-20EIII. The TC80-125E teleconverter is not compatible with the 200-500.
