“Indoor low light Is this a good lens for low light indoor portraits? I used my kit lens at Thanksgiving in the evening and didn't get very good results. Pictures were grainy with harsh shadows.”

This lens will allow you to take much clearer pictures indoors and lower light. Remember this is a fixed 50mm focal length and your kit lense is adjustable down to 18mm which is much wider. If you have the 18mm to 55mm kit lense set your zoom to 50mm and see if that works for you. Best Buy also carries a 35mm lense for nikon. Giving you a little larger field of view
