Yes it does. I have the D5100 and my stepson has the D5600 - we each purchased this lens recently and it is compatible with both. I would also recommend the AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8G as a fun lens to have. We like to do night photography and this lens, used with a tripod, is great for a beginner shooting stars and planets without a lot of extra costly equipment.
