Let's see if I can answer your question since i preordered one this morning. First is how long do you want to wait to buy one? Supply and demand will factor into this. Let's say that Best Buy orders 2,000 P-1000 from Nikon to cover one demo camera and one sells item in each of it's stores, plus supply for preorders and web store. How long is that supply of 2,000 camera going to last and how long before Best Buy can order more from Nikon? For some this plays a big roll in their perorder one for themselves. Those preordering one now, should receive them on 3 Sept. from what I am reading from the ordering page, the day the P-1000 goes on sale in stores. Next does the P-1000 fill what you want to do with it? Sure it is not the best camera out there, but I feel it is a very good deal at just under $1,000 and for what it offers in that way of use. Some of the down sides seems to be it is not water proofed so keep it out of the rain. If you are good out somewhere to shoot alot of pics or movies that day with it. You may need to carry extra batteries (do to short battery life from what I have been reading on the web) and some form of off camera storage of your pics and movies. Do your homework than deside if you want to buy now or wait to buy.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Usually I would agree with the supply and demand thing , but in this case the demand for a super point and shoot non-dslr doesn't have much of a demand. We are a very small market .. for instance... When I bought my P900, the box was actually covered in a light coating of dust... Why? Because long range zoom bridge cameras are not in demand! Even in the Nikon website , all of their excitement if about their new mirrorless cameras and new lens. So much so that they didn't even list them on their website ... But they did already list the P1000, even though you can't buy it right now. I think the p1000 is great! But come the Nikon announcement , the p1000 will not in anyway be their main focus... Serious photographers don't consider the p1000 even a consideration.. so i don't expect on the day it's released that there will be people camped out waiting for the store to open ....
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Had very different experience from one of the other answerers here. The P-900 was almost impossible to find for long periods of time. That may well have been rectified eventually, but demand far outstripped supply through much of its history. It was on backorder at Best Buy and elsewhere for months at a time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The camera was supposed to be released today, the 6th. Now the website says it's going to be the 10th.. but if you go on to Nikon's website they're showing the entire camera is on backorder with no ETA.....
