Q: QuestionWhy would they have such a small senor on this 3 cameras make me pass !!(3 answers)
A: AnswerIt's physics, the small sensor size is due to the compact size of the lens in relative terms. if you were to use a 1-Inch sensor the 3000mm lens would be the size of a truck! Luckily, the science and advancements in sensor technologies and the light sensitivity of the small sensors are so good anymore that most people will not see the difference and it will only suffer in low light conditions. I shoot hobby nd pro and have cameras from Sony, Nikon, Canon and etc., I have both Nikon mega zooms the P900 and P1000 and they're both great general purpose cameras to carry when your not in the mood to carry your entire bag of gear with many different lenses. Is this a camera you could shoot pro with? No, but I have obtained some great images that I could not even think of getting even with my large 600mm Zooms for my Nikon which btw are huge lenses which require a separate case to carry them. So why the small sensor? It makes a 3000mm zoom possible on a general purpose camera that shoots outstanding photos compared to even the best pro gear a decade ago.Answered by Eric
- A: AnswerHi I have the Nikon Cool Pix P1000. Yes it has RAW format capabilities. I love this camera. Took it with me to Denal. Got some amazing pictures. I love the fact you don’t loose any clarity with the zoom. You do need a monopod or tripod if shooting lots of long range photos. It’s hard to hold steady at long range zooming. Hope this helps! - A: AnswerYes, this is a genuine Nikon camera. Comes with all Nikon paperwork and registration materials. The one I received had never been opened, everything was included that should have been there , and the camera had never been used before. great camera.

Q: QuestionWhy an expensive camera like this has only 16 megapixel....?????(4 answers)
A: AnswerI’m not sure what the manufacturer’s reason was for the low pixel count but in the case of dslr’s the lower pixel count improves light gathering for the sensor. Seeing as this camera has such a long zoom I think this reasoning applies. The further you zoom in the less light gets to the sensor. It’s perhaps a balance between megapixel and useability at longer zoom ranges.Answered by SEVEN
- A: AnswerLet's see if I can answer your question since i preordered one this morning. First is how long do you want to wait to buy one? Supply and demand will factor into this. Let's say that Best Buy orders 2,000 P-1000 from Nikon to cover one demo camera and one sells item in each of it's stores, plus supply for preorders and web store. How long is that supply of 2,000 camera going to last and how long before Best Buy can order more from Nikon? For some this plays a big roll in their perorder one for themselves. Those preordering one now, should receive them on 3 Sept. from what I am reading from the ordering page, the day the P-1000 goes on sale in stores. Next does the P-1000 fill what you want to do with it? Sure it is not the best camera out there, but I feel it is a very good deal at just under $1,000 and for what it offers in that way of use. Some of the down sides seems to be it is not water proofed so keep it out of the rain. If you are good out somewhere to shoot alot of pics or movies that day with it. You may need to carry extra batteries (do to short battery life from what I have been reading on the web) and some form of off camera storage of your pics and movies. Do your homework than deside if you want to buy now or wait to buy.

Q: QuestionCan you take pictures while recording?(2 answers)
A: AnswerYes, you can take still images while recording videos with the Nikon Coolpix P1000.Answered by NikonStaff
- A: AnswerThe P1000 has an ability to get amazingly sharp images of a variety of subjects, even in low light, due to a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture, a backside-illuminated image sensor, high ISO capability and an EXPEED 4 Image Processor. Couple those features with a zoom-in power that can reach the moon, you should have no problem capturing all the action as it happens on the stage in vivid detail.

Unbeatable zoom~
If you're looking at the P1000 chances are you're already familiar with it's zoom capabilities. It has the largest zoom range of any digital camera on the market and works equally well for 4K video. The mic input means super high audio quality for your videos. This can be the ONE camera that works for all occasions- from portraits to wildlife- this camera can do it all. The downsides are it's small sensor. It is not well suited for low light photography or video and will not produce those beautiful 'out of focus' backgrounds many people prefer. If wildlife is your passion and you typically shoot in good lighting this camera's zoom will produce nice images. It can't beat a large sensor camera in outright image quality but it will capture subjects other cameras simply cannot. So if catching that hawk up a tree eating a squirrel is your type of photography- this camera is great for that type of telephoto video/photography work. The camera is a bit large and moderately heavy but definitely lighter than any interchangeable camera with a long zoom lens. So if you're looking for that ultra-zoom lens camera for extreme telephoto videography or photography- this is the camera for you! Just be aware it's aimed at long range shooting and will not produce amazing images for close-up photography like events or portraits- there are better choices for that type of photography. The P1000 is the 'wildlife' photographers dream for static subjects in good lighting. When I'm walking around with my P1000 I know there's nothing I cannot shoot with this camera- it's a good all-around camera solution if you can only have 1 camera. (I've included 2 sample shots of wild iguanas in Florida taken with my P1000)
