“A while back I read an article that said this camera was going to have RAW format capabilities. The specs on this site only mentions Jpeg. Could some one clarify this please??”

Hi I have the Nikon Cool Pix P1000. Yes it has RAW format capabilities. I love this camera. Took it with me to Denal. Got some amazing pictures. I love the fact you don’t loose any clarity with the zoom. You do need a monopod or tripod if shooting lots of long range photos. It’s hard to hold steady at long range zooming. Hope this helps! However, you are limited to JPEG in: -- Scene modes -- Moon mode -- Bird-watching mode -- Creative mode If you change the shooting mode to any of the above shooting modes when a RAW image quality has been selected, the image quality will change to FINE or NORMAL.
