Both the lenses in this kit are AF-S lenses, which means they include a built-in autofocus motor and will autofocus on the D3300. VR stands for Vibration Reduction and is Nikon's image stabilization technology. Shooting in low light often means slower shutter speeds and, as a result, image blur; VR image stabilization neutralizes camera shake, resulting in sharper shots without a tripod or the use of flash. VR also means sharper shots when using the telephoto focal lengths of your zoom lens and when shooting extreme close-ups.
