“I have found these streaming devices have terrible buffering (ie Streamsmart). I know that has to do with download speed. What is the best way to go with this one, Comcast (coax) or Century Link (RJ-45)?”

I have had Comcast for a few years to this point, i just got a Shield a few weeks ago when I still had Comcast with a 70 megabit connection, the Shield worked perfectly with that, even with two people in the house watching on two streaming boxes at the same time. The other streaming box is an Apple TV 4th Gen (non 4k)

The technology you are describing is the technology used to connect you to the ISP (internet). Either one of these will work as this connection should be connected to a modem, modem/router combo unit. The shield should be connected to the router directly or via a switch.

Also it depends on the servers of whom your trying to stream from and not to mention the time of day. Its not all cut and dry when it comes to devices and your ISP
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Brian, I have the shield and Verizon FIOS with 150 meg up and down and I do not notice a buffering issue. What I do have is an issue with it freezing up when watching you-tube TV. I think I have found the 'fix' though. The shield just goes to 'sleep' when I change HDMI ports, it never really turns off so about twice a week I go in and have it 'restart' itself and I seem to be fine for a few days. I would go with the highest up/download speed which I believe is provided by coax, but Comcast never matches up / down speeds like Verizon. I have Comcast at work and we are not very happy with it.
