The Oculus Rift does not play games from DVD’s it plays off of digital games that can be bought on the digital store on PC (Such as Steam)

I don't know what you mean by this , if you mean like a movie or TV show on DVD , any should work if you use a VR media player such as whirligig ( $4 USD) or SKYBOX VR video player ( free ) , both of which are available on steam (free)

There are a number of apps for watching movies, some play from local content such as DVD’s you currently own, others allow you to stream from apps such as Netflix etc, to really just enhance the experience you can watch the movies as if you were in a cinema with cinema lighting etc and even invite friends from all over the world to watch a movie with you.

There aren’t any DVDs for the oculus as everything is completely digital. When you get your oculus it requires software from their website that helps run it and you can buy the games off the store there. You can also install Steam and get VR games there also.
