I've heard reports that the headset is not the same quality as the earlier bundle. Is this true? I was hoping that Oculus would be a "stand up" company. If they try to push a reduced quality product they are in for rude awakening. null

Though I have not seen the headset of the earlier bundle, I can vouch that the headset that I received about a month ago is of good quality and does the job well.

No they just revised the design to be lighter and slightly smaller and so some cut backs were made but barely noticeable

I don't think they have lessened anything since the launch. I believe only the Vive has had a weight reduction of 15% earlier this year to their model.
Just from my time that I had a DK2 unit and this one which I just got it is hands down better. The head mount is more comfortable, it feels cooler on the face and the lenses are much better quality than before IMO.
