Hi Mike, Thank you for contacting us about the Smart 8 remote. Unfortunately the Bluetooth remote control is only to be connected to the application and not to control the devices you have. Therefore, if the cabinet is closed, it will be difficult to control your devices with the remote. I hope I was able to answer your question. Regards CF Your One For All team
