• I am using it with a Sony receiver and it works well. Can't say definitively about the Kenwood.

• I don't see why not. The Onkyo CD player works the same way as a standard CD player, and it can be used that way. The advantage is that it can handle 6 discs, and randomly. This means that you are not continuously feeding discs.
